The first Rival event was launched in 2002 with NFL Alumnus from UCLA battling USC Alum for bragging rights in Southern California. In 2008, NFL Alumni from the Giants, Cowboys, Eagles and Commanders began an annual battle for supremacy in the NFC East.

For the past 23 years, the interest and turn out to play in the annual events from the Alumni has been nothing short of spectacular. So after meeting with over 75 NFL greats, we launched a full Rival Golf Tour, Powered by NFL Alumni. Of the the 17,000 NFL Alumni, over 4,000 are avid or competitive golfers. This is the first and only tour where Alumni will be playing for cash awards and pride.

The Tour content will air on the Alumni Golf Channel, which was launched by the Alumni Media Network in 2023. The Network was also founded and built by NFL Alumni to take control of the limitless content created annually by the retired players.

The Tour is elevating itself by creating and distributing golf content that is unique, entertainment focused, and draws on a wider demographic than just professional golf tour audiences. Story telling, smack talk soundbites, and having personalizing the participants is the core of what the content is focused on. While the Alumni are competing, the banter around the events is more compelling to the audiences, corporate partners, and fans than the actual results of the Golf.
